Silent Hill: Downpour

Posted January 9th by Havok in PS3, Video Games, Xbox 360

Finally the Silent Hill sequal previously just known as Silent Hill 8, has now got a official name, Silent Hill: Downpour.

Incase you missed it, heres the teaser trailer from E3 2010

The game is set in the south-eastern part of Silent Hill, known as Downpour, this is a part of the map which we have seen roads leading towards but never actually been able to get to in previous Silent Hill titles, apparantly this area of Silent Hill is pretty big, and has a subway system which the player can use to get around quicker. It has also been said that memorable locations such as Alchemilla Hospital and Mildwich Elementary School wont be returning.

As the name suggests, water will be playing a main role, just like Snow and Ice in Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. I expect to be seeing alot of rain, puddles, rivers and probably messed up Silent Hill rivers that flow along walls and cielings.

Some other features that we now know are:
-There will be sidequests, I’ts a sort of open world Silent Hill Game.
-Instead of putting in a crazy combat system the player will learn its better to deliver a incapacitating blow and then run away instead of try kill the creatures.
-Boss fights will include quicktime events, now personally im not a fan of these.
-There will be no weapon inventory, and weapons will deteriorate, weaken and break.
And ofcourse a puzzle difficulty option.

I look forward to more details emerging!

For me, the Silent Hill series has went down hill since Silent Hill 3, then with Konami dropping Team Silent kinda almost killed the series. hopefully these new devs (Vatra) can do alot better, well they cant really do any worse to the series than Double Helix did with Homecoming.
But from the looks of the video and the details that have emerged im hopeful!
